From Jets to Horses
Hi Everyone,
Today I have several visions to share with you which were presented back to back. I believe that they should be viewed together to understand what the Lord is saying to us. I wrote of the first vision in this grouping last week about the contrails in the sky made by jets. The lines of condensation seemed to be straight, however as the earth’s surface is curved, the path of the plane flying a consistent altitude, would actually be flying in a circle or shallow “orbit,” with the earth as its center. This vision was to demonstrate that man makes his plans (his flight pattern) and God directs his steps (bends the path to his will).
“A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
Today, I am sharing the remaining visions of the group.
The Visions
The Books and Plants
In this vision I saw someone place two books on a table and in the process, cause two potted plants to fall over. The scripture that came into my mind was about the falling over of an idol of Dagon.
After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod, carried it into the temple of Dagon, and set it beside his statue.
When the people of Ashdod got up early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on his face before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and returned him to his place.
But when they got up early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on his face before the ark of the LORD, with his head and his hands broken off and lying on the threshold. Only the torso remained. That is why, to this day, the priests of Dagon and all who enter the temple of Dagon in Ashdod do not step on the threshold. 1 Samuel 5:1-5
The ark of God carried the presence of God. Nothing could be compared to the Living God, therefore the idol was toppled. The commandments of God declared emphatically: “You shall have no other gods before Me.” And, “You shall not make for yourself an idol…”
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Deuteronomy 5:6-10
Having no fear of God, the Philistines lifted the idol from the floor and placed it back on its feet in defiance of the Lord. But God put down the idol once and for all by breaking its head and hands off. An idol is worthless and only deceives those who are clueless about God Almighty.
In the vision, the two books I believe represent the Bible for it is comprised of two Testaments, the old and the new. The Old Testament represents the Law, the prophets and everything that preceded the Law. The Law is no longer in effect, for Jesus said that he had not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Matthew 5:17-18
Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.” Luke 24:44
The Law and the prophets have been fulfilled in Christ with his death on the Cross, and his second coming in AD 70 that terminated the Old Covenant and inaugurated the New Covenant. It was the time of Jacob’s trouble: the tribulation, when Jerusalem underwent a 3.5 year siege and its final demise and destruction of the Temple in AD 70. Jesus returned in the generation that he had prophesied would bear the iniquity of all those who killed the prophets from Cain to Zechariah, and then to add to their sins, the murder of John the Baptist, Jesus, and James, the Lord’s brother. It was the time when Jerusalem and the Lord’s enemies were placed under his feet. By destroying the temple, they could no longer burn animal sacrifices on the altar. This ended the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant that was becoming obsolete in Paul’s day, was terminated within the Lord’s generation as he had prophesied. So we no longer are bound to the Law. We now follow the teachings of Christ and use the Old Testament to understand God’s plan of salvation initiated from the moment that Adam and Eve died spiritually, by eating of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
God is sovereign. Nothing takes him by surprise. He is Lord over all and his will will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Because of the Lord’s sacrificial death, God’s grace and favor rests on his believers, the Church, for his blood has made us holy, and has purchased our salvation.
The two plants in the vision may represent people who are not genuine believers, who may have believed in a rather shallow sense, and who have not set down permanent roots in the kingdom of God. They are instead rooted in man-made things, like clay pots, cars, material possessions and worldly treasures. Their hearts are not devoted to him alone, but are divided with the world’s enticements. They may not be able to stand in times of persecution when their faith is tested. Instead they may fall, as they did in the vision. They trusted in the clay pot, rather than be planted and firmly rooted in God’s truth.
Some are like the seeds sown on rocky ground. They hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But they themselves have no root, and they remain for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Mark 4:16-17
God is asking us to test our faith. Are we truly in the faith and willing to suffer for Christ? We are to pray for one another that our faith will not fail, just as Jesus prayed for Simon Peter.
Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
“Lord,” said Peter, “I am ready to go with You even to prison and to death.”
But Jesus replied, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.” Luke 22:
Remember Peter’s faith failed, but God later restored him, and so he went on to share the gospel fearlessly.
The Pyrex Measuring Cup
In this vision, I saw a Pyrex measuring cup filled with clear water. Clear water represents purity, and revelation. There is nothing to hinder or confuse the mind when looking through clear water. The measuring cup had a handle and a pouring spout. It was during the water pouring ceremony that Jesus stood up and shouted to the people.
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within him.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. John 7:37-39
At this feast, water was poured out as an offering to God. We should desire to be a poured out drink offering unto God, just as Paul had said of himself:
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
Paul had given his all for Christ and he was about to face martyrdom at the hands of Nero. It is said that Paul ran to the block where he would be beheaded, knowing that in a very few short minutes he would be in the Lord’s presence forever!
The Ninja
In the next vision, I saw a cartoon-like drawing of a Ninja dressed in black with a red belt. I believe that the Lord showed me this Ninja, to make us aware of the enemy who is our true adversary. We are not to consider people as our enemies, but the powers of darkness to whom they have given place through sin. The Lord told us to love our enemies.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48
Jesus is our example. He prayed for those who nailed him to the cross:
When they came to the place called The Skull, they crucified Him there, along with the criminals, one on His right and the other on His left.
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up His garments by casting lots. Luke 23:33:34
When people have given themselves to do evil, they are no longer their own but become slaves of sin. They are oblivious to the truth and cannot see straight to ask for forgiveness. It is our job to pray for them, for Jesus said:
“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:44
God is sovereign. He is the initiator of salvation. We are called to pray in alignment with the will of the Father, asking him to move upon the hearts of the unsaved, for without God’s drawing, no one can be saved.
The Two Horsemen
In this vision I saw two men seated on horses and noted that they sat taller than the men around them that were against them. A scripture in Jeremiah came to mind:
“If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? And if in a safe land you are so trusting, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?” Jeremiah 12:5
Jeremiah was complaining to the Lord:
Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead before You. Yet about Your judgments I wish to contend with You: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? Jeremiah 12:5
The men of Judah were persecuting Jeremiah, and the Lord answered him by comparing what he currently suffered as running against men on foot, and in a peaceful land, to what he would face in the future, when it would be as though he were to run against horses or deal with lions in the thickets of the Jordan.
What are we to take from this? It may be that trials will come to us that are greater than those we have already faced. However, we are not to behave as though we were defenseless against wicked people and the plans of the evil one. On the contrary, we are to be more than conquerors in the fight against evil. The two men on horseback sat taller than those against them. This is another scripture that came to mind:
You, little children, are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are of the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception. 1 John 4:4-6
“Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” The Holy Spirit living in us is greater than any demon or principality.
We are born from above. We are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms, therefore we sit taller than those of the world, in this: we have been given spiritual authority. We can see and understand spiritual things because God opens our eyes to understand, and helps us to receive what he will drop in our spirits, or words of knowledge that he makes known to us.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:11
For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:11
If we have been born of the Spirit, then we belong to God. We are not our own. The Lord has purchased us with his blood. He has given us new life, and eternal life. So in return we devote ourselves to him and become living sacrifices.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
In Summary
I believe that these visions are given to prepare us for the testing of our faith.
The vision of the linear clouds left behind jets is to remind us that we may make plans but God orders our steps.
The vision of the two potted plants falling as a result of two books being placed on a table speak of the spiritual testing that comes with the belief in Christ Jesus. We are to test our own faith, and see that we are truly in Christ and that our faith is genuine. We don’t want to miss the mark and have our faith fail.
The vision of the Pyrex measuring cup with clear water being poured out, reminds us that by believing in Christ, living water will flow from within us. It is this water representing the Holy Spirit that brings life to our spirits. And just as the Apostle Paul who was a poured out drink offering, we offer our lives in the same way and so become living sacrifices to him.
The vision of the Ninja speaks of our enemies, those who would like to put us down or mistreat us. The Lord wants us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. Life in the spirit is so different from the world’s view and values. We are not to indulge our flesh and take vengeance, but instead show love as the Lord did, by praying for our enemies so that they might repent and be saved.
The last vision of the two horsemen shows us that we have been given authority, so that we put on the full armor of God and take our stand, because “Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world.”
Please read and re-read this post if necessary, so that you understand God’s will for yourself. He wants us to be fruitful in our walk with him. We do this by committing our ways to God, seeking his will, knowing that he will direct our steps, and fulfill his purposes through us. When we yield our lives and wills to him, he glorifies himself through us!
Please share this post with others, for we all have a desire to please God. Let us trust him and make ourselves available to him, to use as he wills. God bless you all!
