This is the Way, Walk in it
Hi Everyone,
I am writing today about a vision and its connection with something I heard while praying. God is good his desire is to speaks to us, let us spend time with him to hear his voice.
Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7
“My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.“ John 10:27
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5
And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. Hebrew 8:11
Therefore, we do not need anyone but Jesus to know the heart of God. For he reveals himself to us through the Holy Spirit and His Word.
The Vision
The Stick Figure
I saw a stick figure standing on one leg with the other leg stretched out to the side at hip height. The foot, a mere oval pointed in that direction. Both arms of the stick figure were pointing in the same direction with their hands as small ovals. The left arm was extended up and over the head so as to point to the right. The right arm was extended in the same manner as the leg: straight out to the side, shoulder height.
The stick figure appeared like a dancer standing tall and graceful with two arms and one leg, all pointing in the same direction. A scripture came to mind:
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
After this, many scriptures came to me, one right after another, all concerning the direction we are to go. Jesus said, “You know the way.”
“You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Jesus was speaking of the way to eternal life. And it is only through him.
The world will tell us differently. The world claims that “all roads lead to God.” But this is a lie. That is why the Lord says, “I am the truth.” He warns us that many are deceived and are on the road that leads to death.
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14
I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture. John 10:9
Jesus came in the flesh so that we would know the Father, and his will, for Jesus said, “If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.”
Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.
Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:8-14
Jesus came to us so that we might believe and receive salvation in his name. It is his desire that we walk in his ways and do what he did.
The stick figure in the vision was like a sign at a cross-roads. But indicating that there was only one direction, for its one leg and both arms pointed to the right. This is a warning. We are not to consider any other option. “This is the way - walk in it.”
We definitely do not want to be misled and find ourselves on the broad road that leads to destruction. No doubt that those who travel on the wrong road are unaware of the warnings, and unable to see the signs, for God’s messages are spiritually discerned. Without the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, one would reason on his own: “If everyone is going in this direction, it must be the right way.”
But the Word of God tells us that the world’s view and values are contrary to the Lord’s. If we take our cues from the world, we will become like the world. If we follow those that are spiritually blind, then we can lose our way and become blind ourselves.
Speaking of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day, he said to his disciples:
“Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:14
Jesus called the Pharisees, scribes and teachers of the Law hypocrites, because they did not hold to God’s law, but put heavy burdens on the people by adding additional rules and traditions that God never intended. Jesus came to set the record straight, to fulfill the Law and the Old Testament prophecies of himself, the Messiah.
Jesus answered them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’ You have disregarded the commandment of God to keep the tradition of men.”
He went on to say, “You neatly set aside the command of God to maintain your own tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever you would have received from me is Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God), he is no longer permitted to do anything for his father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by the tradition you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters.” Mark 7:6-13
We have to be careful who we follow, for not every “man of God,” is a man of God. The Lord warned us of false teachers, false prophets, and men that take advantage of their position of trust, to exploit others’ goodwill.
We are to follow Jesus and know his ways. For the world is wicked and we become like those of the world by associating with them. If we associate with a gossip, we will become a gossip. If we associate with a slanderer, we will become a slanderer.
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 13:20
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions, who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:2-7
The important conclusion to this statement was “turn away from such as these.” Paul gave this same strong warning to the church at Corinth:
But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. 1 Corinthians 5:11
We are to be especially careful with brothers and sisters in Christ who do not live as the Lord has commanded. By remaining in fellowship with them, we deny God’s words, and we cause our testimony and God’s name to be tarnished. We are not to associate with “believers” who carry on a lifestyle of sin. It demonstrates to non-believers and new believers that “It must be okay to do____, because they are doing it.” We harm someone’s faith when we tolerate and give room to sin, or sin ourselves with no qualms about it.
Today as I was praying, to understand the vision, I heard a name spoken. It was “Linda Veritas.” There is no one I know with that name, but it has meaning. “Linda” means beauty or beautiful and “Veritas,” means truth. The two names together mean “beautiful truth.”
God’s word is Truth. Jesus is the Truth, as stated before:
“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
When we see the vision, and the name meaning Beautiful Truth, and the scripture above, we see that the Father in heaven is the destination where we want to go. Jesus who is the truth points us heavenward to the Father, for we can only come to the Father through him. Because Jesus is the Truth and the Life, we need him for life in this world, and for life in the next. We surrender our will to the Lord and follow him.
Linda Veritas, “beautiful truth,” refers to Jesus. He is not only called the way, the truth and life, he is also called “The Word,” in John’s gospel and in his Revelation. The Word is the word of truth, and the Word is Jesus.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. Revelation 19:11-16
The Lord is the Word, and the Word is powerful. When the Lord speaks, he creates. When he speaks the world trembles. When he speaks, all other voices are silent.
The entire universe was created at God’s word.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1:3
Jesus quoted the written word, to refute the devil ‘s temptation.
And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve.’” Luke 4:8
The Lord spoke of the power that the words he speaks carry.
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
God declares what is and what will be. When we pray according to his will and in faith and agreement with his word, we will see him move in power to accomplish his purpose. He backs us up as we yield ourselves to his will.
Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:18-20
Thank you Jesus, for you give us your authority. We thank you that your word is truth; it is life; it is powerful!
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:12-14
It pleases the Lord when we have faith to stand with him and believe his word. When we believe his promises and align ourselves with his purposes, we bring him glory through our prayers of faith, knowing that not only can he do it, but that he will do it.
We need to know the Word of God, to know his heart and to know his will. His ways are much different than the world’s ways, and much different than ours. But if we spend time with him we will become more in tune with him and in his ways.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
As we study the Word and draw close to him, we gain understanding of his ways. We pray that the Lord opens our eyes to see how we truly are. Do our ways align with his? Or do our ways fall short of the glory of God?
It is the Holy Spirit within us that leads us to the truth. He convicts our hearts of all unrighteousness. He shows us where we have gone wrong and what we need to do. He gives us the desire to repent and live a holy life. We need his wisdom, his mercy and grace. We need the comfort and peace he gives. And we are so blessed to have his encouragement to walk with him. The Holy Spirit reveals what may be hidden, and what we need to know.
However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come. He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you. Everything that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will take from what is Mine and disclose it to you. John 16:13-15
Thank you Jesus for giving us your Holy Spirit to indwell us!
I would like to share a very short video that truly blessed me.
