Two Boys in God's Plan

Hi Friends,

I am so grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness.  When we call, he is always there.  When we ask, he is more than willing to answer.  I have two visions to share with you today.  They concern a personal matter.  But I want to share them with you as a testimony of God’s love and faithfulness.

Just this past Monday, the day after Father’s Day, I found out that our lease will not be renewed this next April.  My son’s lease is to expire in September, and his lease will not be renewed either.  Suddenly we will need to move from our residence of 23 years.  We have enjoyed living here, and we’ve made many friends.  Change is part of life, but somehow we never expected this change to occur.

My husband has always wanted to travel, so we bought a small fiberglass travel trailer and started renovating it, hoping to be able to visit our grandchildren and take them camping.  I tend to be more of a homebody, always involved in church life and family life.

I really haven’t been free to move from New Jersey, for family reasons.  I have hoped to “launch” my two sons, before we move from here.  My older son has had two jobs for years, one for love and another for money, pension and healthcare.  He has been dating a wonderful young woman for several years, but has not as yet been willing to commit to marriage.  My younger son is working with his brother, coaching power tumbling, and is quite happy. However, I am not so sure that it will allow him to  support himself and a family of his own.

So this morning I woke up at 5:00, and decided to go for a walk with the Lord.  Anytime of day is right to pray, for God is there, even in the middle of the night.  He is faithful.  I asked him about this change, and what was his plan for us.  I was most concerned for my two sons, for I have always been available to help them, particularly with the older one who needs me to run errands, do laundry, sew gym mats, and other projects.  With  two jobs, he hardly has time to sleep.

After my walk I came home and sat on the floor in my room where I prayed, asking God, “What should I do?  What is your plan for us?”  The Lord gave me a vision:

The I-phone

In the vision, I was sitting in a stadium that was somewhat dark.  The main floor was lit, but the seating was minimally lit.  A man came up to me holding a phone in his hand.  He turned the screen to show me something saying, “I want you to see what is going on.”  Suddenly a basketball team ran from behind me on the left towards the court.  They were dressed in their team’s uniforms which were white with red trim, numbers and names.  It must have been time for the game to start.  I never got to see what was on the I-phone screen because of the distraction.  The vision ended.

As I sat there, I prayed again.  “Lord, I know that you were going to show me what is going on, so I will stay here until you speak to me again.”

Then I had a second vision:

The Two Babies

In this vision, I saw two babies about 9 months old.  One baby was carrying the other.  I thought to myself, “How could this be?  How can a 9 month old carry a baby, when he is too young to walk himself?”

After the vision, I grabbed a pen and notebook to write down the two visions.  As I was doing so, my sister called and shared a Christian song with me entitled “Speak to the Mountains” by Chris McClarney.  There was a line that popped out:  “It’s time to move!” It’s a great song, and it confirmed to me that it was time to move!

She sent it to me as an encouragement.  So we talked and prayed for a short while.  I went back to prayer, and suddenly I knew what the Lord meant by the second vision.  He was telling me that the two babies were my two sons, and they would carry each other!

The Lord was saying that my worries and concerns for my two sons were not needed.  He  would provide for them and bring them into the kingdom of God. Even though they are not serving the Lord right now, I know that the Lord will save them someday.

The Dive

Years ago, God showed me a vision of my older son diving into a pool. There were perhaps 7 or so young men about 25 years old walking at the edge of a beach style pool, barely getting their feet wet. Then I saw my son, who looked to be in the 5th or 6th grade, diving in. The Lord was showing me that when he would come to faith, he would not come as the young men did, with reservation or timidity, but with great zeal, he would dive right in!

Later when I found out that I was pregnant with my youngest, I was in tears, for I didn’t want a child that would not serve the Lord.  I stopped and placed my hand over my stomach and said,  “Lord fill this baby with the Holy Spirit, just like you did to John the Baptist when he was in his mother’s womb.”  Then I grabbed my Bible and asked the Lord to speak to me. I opened to Isaiah 44.  Again, the Lord was so faithful to me: telling me of all my three children:

“But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.
This is what the Lord says—he who made you, who formed you in the womb,
and who will help you: Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams.
Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’; others will call themselves by the name of Jacob;
still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and will take the name Israel.
Isaiah 44:1-5

I had just asked the Lord to fill my baby with the Holy Spirit, and he did greater than that! God promised to fill all my children and my descendants with the Holy Spirit!

My daughter would say, “I belong to the Lord.”

My older son would call himself “Jacob.”

And the youngest, would “take the name Israel.”

Amazing!  The Lord’s ways are always perfect.  His timing is perfect.  And He will accomplish what he promises. So even though my eyes saw a move as “too soon,” by my concern that they were not yet “launched,” God was saying “It is time.”

John the Baptist declared to his own disciples, regarding Jesus:

“He must increase, but I must decrease.”  John 3:30

I am to do the same. All of us should do the same.

God’s promises are firm; they are unshakable.  So he has promised that all my children will be filled with the Spirit of God and will follow him wholeheartedly.  And even though my two sons are my “babies,”  they are strong enough to carry each other.  God was giving me the message that He will see to it that they are “launched.”  God is faithful!  Let His will be done!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have a Lord who cares about us so much, that he wants us to know his plans and his purposes for us and for our families.  I have trusted God for so many things, and he has always provided.  He wants us to know what he is doing, and he also wants us to trust him with the details.  He just asks us to give him the steering wheel.  Thank you Jesus!

This is a short post, but I want to encourage you to call to the Lord, and ask him those hard questions.  If you are sincere, and want to know him, he will reveal himself to you.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”  Jeremiah 33:3

“...casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Please share this post with your friends and loved ones.  God bless you!
